Blacktail Mountain Resort
I learned to board here. Great people. I loved the fires and BBQ's at the bottom of the main chair.
Lakeside, MT

Clean-cut, classy Whitefish has enough resort-town swankness to elicit oohhs and ahhs—and the humble Montana upbringing to keep real about it. Sure, cosmopolitan winter wayfarers may arrive via locomotive, sample famous sushi, shop boutiques, and room in plush restored rail cars; but more often then not, we catch them tackling a third-pound greasy burger at the town watering hole, the Bulldog Saloon. Or planning a rowdy dogsled jaunt. Or debating Whitefish Mountain's ample terrain and speedy lifts against the quaint, budget charms of mom-and-pop Blacktail Mountain. (Meanwhile, the spandexy crowd enjoys even cheaper cross-country skiing at several spots around town.) Yep, under her gluten-free, vegan, microbrewed rustic-luxury appeal, Whitefish is still a Montana town: with the snowcapped mountain views, Carhartts, and bowling alley to prove it.

The brewery is an awesome place especially for my first brewery visit they were kind and hospitable
Grouse Mountain Lodge is a “fancy-rustic” type of place, but the real appeal for us spandex-loving types is the roughly 5k of cross-country groomers lit up for night skiing!
Staying here is like borrowing your super-stylish classy friend's loft. 3 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms and a sweet kitchen with all the modern trimmings. A unique place to stay (there's just one!) in downtown Whitefish.

When Whitefish winter weather is really really gnarly, sometimes you just have to say (a la Big Lebowski) “Screw it, let's go bowling.” Here's your place: warm, fun, and they serve beer.
Traveling with my gluten-intolerant, tea-loving vegan girlfriend, this place was our Whitefish hangout.
The Tai Pizza is amazing!
A local hot spot!
