Bozeman or Bust
In Bozeman, the tan lines are real, the peak-bagging stories are true, and the burly mountain bikes aren’t just for show. With Yellowstone National Park, Hyalite Canyon, and the Gallatin National Forest so close, Bozemanites have no shortage of trails to hike, singletrack to slay, peaks to summit and rivers to fish.
But you don’t have to be down for Class IV paddling or 5.10 climbs to get outside. Stroll downtown Bozeman to take in galleries, boutiques, and restaurants ranging from the worn-in Western Café to the hip-but-not-too-hip Montana Aleworks. From downtown, hike urban trails all the way to the Museum of the Rockies, or head to the Emerson Cultural Center for locally-made art and live performances.
Sleeping is half the fun with options from the Blue Sky Motel to the historic Lehrkind Mansion B&B. Then again, given Bozeman’s outdoor chops, you may want to make like the locals and pitch a tent.
