Big Weekend, Big Sky

In Big Sky, fresh experiences abound, with no experience necessary. Never driven a dog sled? Spirit of the North Dog Sled Adventures changes that. Haven’t performed any high-wire stunts? The Big Sky Zipline sends you whizzing through the frosted forest, a la Indiana Jones. From this winter-loving town, you can see across state lines from the top of Lone Peak, dine in a backcountry yurt accessed by snowcats, or sip limited-distribution microbrews at the Lone Peak Brewery.

Even the regular Montana standbys aren’t so regular in Big Sky. Yes, there’s skiing— the Biggest Skiing in America. Yes, there’s red meat—Buck’s T-4 transforms wild game into gourmet masterpieces. And of course there are saloons—the Corral offers western atmosphere without the drive home, thanks to a homey on-site motel.
