I need to see the pig races.
Bearcreek Pig Races
Why You Should Visit
Great steaks, cold micro on tap, and the only pig racing (!) in Montana. Fun...and funny. We stayed in Red Lodge and pitched in for a taxi ride (there is one in Red Lodge...one) out and back so we could fully enjoy this Montana eccentricity. Recommended!
If you have not experienced the pig races at Bear Creek, put it on your bucket list. Great time for all ages.
This place is a blast. Not far from Red Lodge, it has great bbq food and steaks. But of course the fun part is the pig races. If you like to gamble a bit you can place a wager (or you can just watch for fun) and head out back to look down on a track where the pigs race around for a treat of slop. Saw lots of kids having fun and they have a playground area too, so fun for the whole fam.
There is only one word to describe the Bearcreek Saloon and Steakhouse. . . and that word is epic. Not only is it a great bar where the locals hang and exchange stories, but add in pig racing and you are in for quite the night. As you make your way to the back of the bar you step out on the deck and see the track, the place where it all happens. I grew up going there with my family, betting on the pigs and thinking to myself " Am I actually watching pigs, in jerseys, racing around a track?" Yes, Yes I am. I still make a trip every year, if not twice to have good food, good drinks and cheer on the little piggies as they run around the track. And in case you like pie, ( who doesn't ) give the Hungry Bear Bakery a try. All in all, a great way to get in a MT experience.
During the time period of Memorial day through Labor day they hold pig races on the week-ends. you can bet on the pigs and drink beer ,all the while, helping the kids of the area have money for scholarships. then later on you can go inside and have a really good montana beef dinner.
