Why You Should Visit

My wife and I had our wedding reception here and spent our wedding night in one of the rooms with a balcony. We have since been back for special occasion meals. Very high quality food and service. Very highly recommend an experience here...

Great place to see even if you don't stay, has wonderful history and awesome architecture. Its a beautiful town with the Missouri River right there by main street.

What an amazing place to stay. My X wife and I would go there at least once a year and spend the weekend. We have been there in both winter and summer and loved it no matter what the weather was like. The food was some of the best I have eaten. Breakfast was great with coffee out of a french press. When you finished dinner make sure you get some cheesecake and coffee. Outside there is a walkway/path that runs along side the river and a great place to walk off that big dinner. Suppose to be haunted but never had an uneasy feeling or an event happen except one time where we went to sleep and I had taken a zantac out of the bottle. I got sidetracked and didnt take it. Upon waking up the next morning I found the pill on top of the bottle standing up on its side like someone had placed it there. We stayed in the two best rooms which were on the second floor. The first room is on the north east corner and is very cozy and warm. The master suite was the size of an apartment. The master room had great antique furniture set up as a living room to watch TV or just have a conversation with a loved one. This hotel is very very clean and taken care of. The staff are great and helpful and will go out of there way. For our 22nd wedding aniversary on December 18th the restaurant was packed with Christmas Parties. The staff made it one of the best anniversaries we have had. Before we went up there I had called the front desk and made arrangments to have 2 dozen roses delivered to the room with a card. The staff had also brought in a table and chairs so we could have a romantic dinner in the comfort of our room, instead of the noisey restaurant. This wasnt even my idea, one of the women at the front desk had arranged it all. The Grand Union is worth every cent spent there. Never had a bad meal or a restless night. Greatest Hotel I have ever stayed in.

This is a beautiful hotel set on the Missouri River. I had a comfortable and nice stay at this beautiful old hotel. Stay here if you are in Fort Benton...and say hi to "Shep" the dog out front.

The rooms are updated but maintain the stylish elegance of the original hotel. Not to mention the dining is fantastic. Definitely a great place to book a night away from home.

The Grand Union Hotel is an amazing restored hotel that was built in 1882 and is the oldest operating hotel in Montana. The view from our room was fantastic as the hotel is right on the banks of the Missouri River. We dined on the patio and had the most delicious Duck dish with lentils that our server told us were grown not twenty minutes away. The patio is also right on the river and the weather couldn't have been better, just gorgeous!

My wife and I stayed in the Grand Union Hotel many years ago. We were on the road as consultants for Head Start on our way from Missoula to Havre. The room was incredibly large and filled with antique furniture. When we entered the room, we thought we had two twin beds. By the time we crossed the room, we realized they were two double beds. The setting was magnificent. Even after 30+ years, this is one of the best memories we have of hotelling in Montana.
